Born in the scalding hot sun of the Southwest, Fred
Green has earned a reputation for mixing up a club with its white-hot
version of metal infused with the feel-good beat of down home funk.
Formed in 1995, in Tempe, Arizona, this original three-piece act recorded
its first CD, Dillywagon, to critical acclaim in 1996. Sales of the
CD, as well as its follow-ups, Groover and Fred Green, have topped the
20,000 mark, selling particularly well in the Southwest, their home
area. No wonder the band has been voted "The Best Funked-Up Band
in Arizona" every year since 1997.
"Their music is a mix between the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Primus with the vocals suggestive of Alice in Chains. Blend it with a bong hit, and you've got Fred Green." -- Link Music Link Music July '99 3rd CD review "Stoner funk that leaps and drifts from deep, blessed-out grooves to incendiary instrumental breaks." -- Phoenix New Times Phx New Times Sept. '97 GROOVER review Phx
New Times June '99 3rd CD review "One of the hardest working bands in Phoenix." -- Alive Magazine "It's encouraging to know that there are still people who are committed to creating quality music. "--Dawn Dolan (MTV)

years. He started out by playing in the Phoenix reggae scene playing
with a number of different musicans. Next he moved on to the heavy rap
project called Oil. Playing with Oil eventually led to the band Goz
which consisted of members of Oil and Fred Green. So when he was given
the chance to join up with Fred Green he jumped right on it. "It's
great to play with guys and a band that you have admired for so long."

Originally from Allentown , PA., Todd began his musical career by picking
up the various instruments laying around the house left by his father,
himself a musician. In 5 years Todd was already performing in clubs
with his father and also on his own as a singer in a local rock band.
Soon after he began studying guitar with the now legendary Greg Howe
(Justin Timberlake, Michael Jackson, Enrique Iglesias, etc) and studying
the bass under guru Kjell Benner. After numerous east coast gigs with
various bands Todd decided to attend Penn State University. It didn't
take long to get bored with the East coast and in 2 short years, he
left PA for AZ. |
